Philippines, Vietnam - Tropical Cyclone TEMBIN

  • A new Tropical Storm named TEMBIN (VINTA in the Philippines) has formed over the south west Pacific on 20 December and started moving west-northwest toward Mindanao island (Philippines). On 21 December at 0.00 UTC its centre was located 370 km east of Tandang city (Surigao del Sur province, Caraga region) and it had maximum sustained wind speed of 65 km/h (Tropical Storm).
  • Over the next 24 hours it might continue moving west toward Caraga region (Philippines), strengthening but remaining a Tropical Storm. It is forecast to reach the coastal areas of Surigao der Sur, south of Tandang City, on 21 December afternoon/evening. Heavy rain , strong winds and storm surge could affect the area of Mindanao and Visayas on 21-23 December, incuding the areas already affected by KAI-TAK. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), as of 21 December, issued a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal 2, for some parts of the regions of Caraga, Davao Region and Northern Mindanao.
