Uganda - Congo-Crimean Haemorragic Fever

- ECHO Daily flash of 09/01/2018

  • Congo-Crimean Haemorragic Fever (CCHF) is a viral haemorragic fever endemic in Africa, transmitted mainly by ticks from infected animals. The mortality rate is less than for the Ebola or Marburg viruses.
  • In Nakaseke district in Central Uganda, the health authorities have confirmed one CCHF case together with 3 other suspected cases. No deaths have been reported yet.
  • These new cases have been under investigation since the end of December 2017. Veterinary activities are still to be started  and support to the district authorities needs to be upgraded. DG ECHO is closely following the situation.
