Tropical cyclone LESLIE, formed over the Atlantic Ocean on 23 September, hit central and north Portuguese coast on 13 and 14 October as Category 1 hurricane, with rain and maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h.
Despite of the red alert declared on 13 of the 18 Portuguese states, no deaths or injuries have been reported. Strong winds have bought down hundreds of trees and more than 15 000 homes left more without electricity.
Tropical cyclone LESLIE is moving north-east towards northern Spain where wind gust up to 100 km/h and heavy rain are expected in western and northern provinces.
