After the passage of tropical cyclone GELENA, which passed closed to Rodrigues Island on 10 February with winds up to 185 km/h, 142 people have been evacuated to centres, 90% of the island's 41 669 inhabitants are left without power, and there are significant transport disruptions.
Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to move south-east over the Southern Indian Ocean, weakening.
According to Mauritius Meteorological Services (MMS), strong winds and storm surges will continue to affect the southern and south-western coast of Rodrigues.
