Democratic Republic of Congo - Cholera outbreak

  • Despite the start of the dry season, the number of cholera cases is still increasing and spreading along the Congo River. The East of the country remains the most affected region but cases have been reported in the capital, Kinshasa, mainly in the same areas affected by the yellow fever outbreak. Since the beginning of 2016, 9 821 cases have been reported in DRC corresponding to an increase of 3 000 compared to the same period in 2015.
  • Humanitarian organisations are already responding to the situation through various mechanism co-funded by ECHO.
