Heavy rains have severely affected the departments of Guainia, Vichada and Arauca (Colombia) as well as States of Amazonas and Apure (Venezuela). Most of the riverside communities on both sides of the border are flooded.
While more than 5000 families on the Colombian side that have been severely affected are receiving basic assistance, some 3,000 families on the Venezuelan side are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance in the sectors of health, WASH, food, shelter and NFI. An increase in skin diseases, respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, and malaria is being reported.
