published on 03/10/2014
Despite the cease fire agreement of 5 September, continuous shelling is reported in Donetsk airport. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), one of their staff members was killed yesterday in Donetsk when the office of the humanitarian organization was shelled. Projectiles hit also a Donetsk school and a bus school and injured six adults.
The humanitarian situation is still deteriorating. The number of displaced persons raised to 660 000, around 350 000 fled Eastern Ukraine to seek refuge in neighbouring countries, mainly in Russia.
According to reports, the humanitarian situation in eastern Ukraine is alarming; in Luhansk due to infrastructure damage, only 20% of needs for electricity are covered.
