  • According to the latest official figures from the Government’s national disaster management agency BNPB as of 15 October, a total of 2 100 people have lost their lives, 680 more are missing, and 4 612 are suffering from major injuries. There are 78 994 internally displaced persons and the state of emergency has been extended until 25 October.
  • National authorities, under the leadership of BNPB and with support of AHA, are leading the humanitarian response, along with national NGOs and some INGOs which were registered in the country prior to the disaster, through their local branches or via local implementing partners.
  • A four person Union Civil Protection Mechanism Coordination Team has also been deployed to Indonesia and is due to arrive in Palu on 16 October. In addition, DG ECHO's Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) has deployed two liaison officers, currently operating in Jakarta and Balikpapan alongside two additional EU humanitarian experts.
