Malawi - Floods UPDATE

Following the heavy rains and floods affecting the country since last week, 45 people are reported dead, 577 people are injured and two more are reported as missing.
739 790 people are affected and 15 185 households have been displaced.
Damage assessments, search and rescue operations and aid distribution are still ongoing. 187 temporary camps have been set up by the Government of Malawi in the affected districts.
Moderate to locally heavy rain with occasional thunderstorms are forecast over southern parts of the country between 14-17 March.
The European Commission's Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMSR347) was activated on 10 March upon World Food Programme request. So far, six maps have been produced.
